City of Snow - 2018
Overview
City of Snow was a charitable art exhibition, organized in Novosibirsk, Russia. It's purpose was to illuminate the beauties of Siberia despite the harsh weather and living conditions. Additionally, the project goal was to raise money with 100% of all sales proceeds being donated to Russian-based community outreach program, "Helping Hands".
Process
My initial year in Siberia was spent acclimating to the culture and city. As an English teacher in the city's largest, private language school, I was able to meet and interact with individuals from all backgrounds, professions, and ages. Through my interactions and experiences, I created a total of 32 paintings featuring various aspects of life in the community. Working in collaboration with a local art gallery, "Art Spruce", visuals, advertisements, and videography were created to promote what would be my first art exhibition. We additionally contacted the local news agency, NGS, in order to increase further awareness.
Result
- A total Russian equivalent of $1,300 was raised and donated to the community outreach program, "Helping Hands".
- City-wide news coverage and awareness
- 30+ children recieved christmas gifts, 50+ children recieved basic life necessities (ex. clothing, toiletries, etc.)
- Free Workshop hosted on still-life drawing with charcoal.
